Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowl Syndrome is a Gastrointestinal disorder. The causes of this disorder are not yet known, however, emotional stress, gastrointestinal infection and intolerance to some foods are known to aggravate the problem. The syndrome doesn't cause inflammation, changes in the bowel tissue resulting in permanent damage or contribute to development of serious bowel conditions like colitis or cancer.

Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome tend to occur early in childhood and heighten in adulthood. They differ across people and they may include abdominal discomfort and pain (cramping), constipation, nausea, presence of mucus in the stool as well as diarrhea. People with the problem have bowels which are easily upset and the condition tends to affect more women than men.

There is no cure for the syndrome but treatments are available to relieve its symptoms. These treatments include psychological counseling and patient education. In addition, it is advisable to manage your diet as consumption of some foodstuffs worsens the condition.

Words from our in House Expert:

dr.-dave-bordered.jpgDr. Dave States: This is generally noted as an overload of toxicity within the bowel system and needing a good cleaning.   Ultra clear products by metagenics both clean and nutrify the lower bowels to make them start to function normally again.  Fiber and good healthy organic diet with plenty of exercise is the main thing that starts to resolve this inflammed condition.  Alkalization is also a fundamental in getting the intestines to calm themselves.
