Inflammatory Bowel Disease/Crohn's Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Disease/Crohn's Disease causes swelling in the alimentary tract which often leads to severe diarrhea, abdominal pain and even cases of malnutrition.

Anybody can be affected by the Inflammatory Bowel Disease/Crohn's Disease but the main risk factors are;

1. The family history factor - if there is a history of IBD cases in your family, chances are highly likely that you'll suffer from the same.
2. Dairy fat - high concentrations of milk-fat have been shown to trigger IBD.
3. Junk foods - foods that cause constipation such as junk or restaurant food may be the number one factor contributing to the increasing cases of IBD.
4. Some medication such as pain relievers and isotretinoin (acne medicine) are responsible for the rising numbers of IBD patients.

Common signs of IBD include loss of appetite, constipation and diarrhea, abdominal pain, joint pains, fever, fatigue and rectal bleeding. If you notice these signs, go for colonoscopy or biopsy tests.

Management of IBD is simple; take lots of water and eat food rich in fibers. Water therapy and natural herb-therapy also work wonders.

Words from our in House Expert:

dr.-dave-bordered.jpgDr. Dave States: This typically comes from two different angles.  One being the mind body connection by overly stressing the system from internal or external stressors.  Calming the mind is key to success in solving this problem.  Diet and exercise are two main things that will help calm the digestive system.  We have many different cleansing agents and nutrifying agent in the body.  Ultra Clear from metagenics is a great place to start this process through the specialty product called sustain.
