It is common for all babies to have gas pains. What differs is the frequency of occurrence in them. What it means is that there is a gaseous bubble in the stomach that tries to have its way out of the body through the digestive system. Most often, it comes about when the baby swallows in air whilst crying, a build up of bubbles in the intestines or due to the underdevelopment of the digestive system of the babies. Since babies have speech difficulties, they will react by crying, excessive stretching, burping, flatulence or even uncomfortably squirming around.

The ways through which you can relief your baby from such a problem include rocking and bouncing him, rubbing the baby's belly or by sucking him on a pacifier. The methods through which to prevent gas pain in babies include ensuring that their head is above the belly whilst feeding. If you bottle feed your baby, consider making the nipple hole smaller.

Words from our in House Expert:

dr.-dave-bordered.jpgDr. Dave States: Bloating and Gas can come from many different reason within the GI tract.  Not always bad, but it is annoying!  Digestive enzymes are the essential to start.  These might cause a little more gas to start, but will soon level the system off over time.  Primal Defense from garden of life and pure encapsulations has a great combination for this condition.
