Food Poisoning

Intake of foods which are contaminated with bacteria and pathogens such as virus or parasites leads to food poisoning. There are is wide range of symptoms indicating the disease. These include dehydration, abdominal cramps, vomiting, fever, diarrhea or stomach upset.

It has been seen that about 20 types of organisms can lead to food poisoning. After the intake of bacteria contaminated food, they multiply themselves inside the bowels and stomach. Even, some of the bacteria release toxin while they multiply. This leads to abdominal cramps, diarrhea and nausea. Diarrhea and vomiting are the body's methods in order to eliminate toxin.

However, all the invading organisms do not results into vomiting, but most of them give rise to diarrhea. In many food poisoning cases, presence of blood in the stool is seen which is taken as a serious symptom. Cramps in the abdomen are quite common. A person may also have fever. It is recommended to consult a doctor whenever stool with blood or high fever is noticed.
