Carpal Tunnel

Carpal tunnel syndrome has evolved from repetitive movements that have afflicted many, for instance, factory workers on assembly lines. This syndrome affects nerves in our wrists, which can either shoot pain into our hands and fingers or cause them to fall asleep and tingle, this will usually wake us up at night. To do one motion for many hours on end can bring about such pain, even if it's not specifically carpal tunnel syndrome.

As technology has moved forward, the advent of computers and smart phones can make you more susceptible to a range of hand pain. Think about all the emails and texts you send, as well as websites visited, and you can easily note how much more we use our hands than just a few years ago.

The nerves that control our wrists can become sprained and swell due to excessive work. Signs of carpal tunnel could also come from arthritis, or even holding fluids as a result of pregnancy. Women are more likely to develop this syndrome, since their tendons and nerves are smaller than men.

You can take simple steps to improve musculoskeletal health, and eliminate any early signs of carpal tunnel syndrome, through health and healing. Rest, rest and more rest is always a great way to help alleviate our nerves, tendons, bones and the entire body.

Words from our In House Expert

dr.-dave-bordered.jpg Dr. Dave States: This syndrome is really caused from an excessive build-up of scar tissue and pressure in the carpal tunnel area of the wrist. This condition is caused  by inflammation. Lessening the amount of pressure and inflammation of the region along with making sure that you raise your intake of Omega fish oils by Nordic Naturals and Flexible Joint Formula by Metagenics will help reduce inflammation and lubricate the body.
