Dengue Fever

Dengue fever is just one of many diseases you should investigate before making a trip to tropical locations, such as the Caribbean. This type of fever comes from a virus carried by mosquitos. While it can bring with it many symptoms common with the flu, there are some specifics to look for when making a diagnosis about dengue fever.

On top of a fever, you can experience headaches, fatigue, and rash. One component common to this fever is muscle and joint pain. Nose bleeds and hemorrhages could mark a more severe case. Warmer climates can breed these virus-carrying mosquitos, such as certain South American countries, and places in closer proximity to the United States. Those can include Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

One way to protect yourself from this fever is to keep any standing water away from your travels. This can be a breeding ground for mosquitos, whether you're at a tropical location or among the comforts of home. If you are experiencing these symptoms, then you must preserve immune system protection. You can do this through holistic wellness. That can include drinking plenty of orange juice, which can strengthen antibodies and your immune system for better recovery.
